How Uptimia monitors your site

No false alarms

Confirmed from 3 regions before you're paged

A single checkpoint seeing an error proves nothing — it may be that checkpoint's route, not your site. Uptimia re-checks from other regions and opens the incident only when they agree, so what reaches you is an outage, not noise. The first successful check closes the incident and sends the recovery notice.

  • You set the bar — require up to three independent regions to agree before anyone is paged
  • Every alert carries proof — the screenshot, headers and traceroute from the failing check, captured automatically
  • Your own alert delay — a short problem that clears on its own never reaches anyone

Alerting

Escalated until someone acknowledges

The alert goes to the channels your team already watches. If nobody acknowledges it, the escalation ladder pulls in the next person on call instead of waiting for someone to notice. When the site recovers, the same channels get the recovery notice with the outage duration.

  • Acknowledge in one click — straight from the alert, no login to hunt for at 2 a.m.
  • Escalation ladders — the alert keeps climbing until somebody owns it
  • Deploying? Silence it — maintenance windows mean planned work never pages anyone

Root cause

Screenshot, headers and traceroute at failure

The evidence is gathered the moment the check fails, from the checkpoint that saw it — so you are not trying to reproduce an intermittent 503 an hour after it cleared.

  • Everything the failing check saw — screenshot, response headers and body, plus a traceroute: the network path the request took, hop by hop
  • Timing broken down by phase — see at a glance whether it was DNS, the network or your app
  • Hand it to anyone — export as PDF or HTML, or share a link with your client or host

Global network

Down in Frankfurt, fine in Dallas

Every check reports per checkpoint, so you can tell a global outage from a routing or CDN problem in a single region — and you see the difference before the affected customers write in.

  • Checks as often as every 30 seconds — a short outage can't slip by unnoticed
  • Response times per region — spot where your site feels slow before customers complain
  • Pick your customers' regions — or simply use the whole network

What is website uptime monitoring?

Website uptime monitoring is an automated service that repeatedly checks whether a website, server or API is online and responding correctly — typically every 30 seconds to 5 minutes, from multiple locations worldwide. When a check fails, it alerts you by email, SMS or chat, so downtime is fixed before users notice.

The numbers

What does 99.9% uptime mean?

Uptime is measured in nines, and each extra nine cuts your allowed downtime tenfold. Even "three nines" leaves room for almost nine hours offline per year.

Website uptime monitoring FAQ

01What is website uptime monitoring?+
A service that checks your website from the outside, around the clock, and alerts you the moment it stops responding correctly — so you hear about problems from us rather than from a customer. Uptimia checks from 171+ locations in 70+ countries, as often as every 30 seconds.
02How does uptime monitoring work?+
Each check makes a real request to your site, exactly like a visitor would, and validates what comes back: status code, response time and — if you want — the content on the page. A failure gets re-checked from other regions first, so only genuine outages reach you. The first successful check closes the incident and sends a recovery notice.
03How often does Uptimia check my website?+
As often as every 30 seconds on Professional and above. Basic checks every 60 seconds, the free plan every 5 minutes. You choose per monitor, so a revenue-critical checkout can be checked every 30 seconds while a low-priority page is checked once a day.
04How do you prevent false alarms?+
Every monitor is watched from at least 6 locations, and a suspected outage is re-checked from up to 3 independent checkpoints before anyone is alerted — so a hiccup on one network path never wakes you. Recovery works the same way in reverse: a single good check brings the monitor back.
05What can I monitor besides web pages?+
Anything with an address: APIs and any HTTP or HTTPS endpoint, a keyword appearing or disappearing on a page, mail servers over SMTP, POP3 and IMAP, and network services over TCP, ping, DNS and UDP. Custom headers, methods, request bodies and basic auth are all supported.
06What information do I get when my website goes down?+
Everything you'd otherwise have to reconstruct: which locations saw the failure and when, the error code, a screenshot, the response headers and body, a traceroute, and timings for each phase of the request. Export it as PDF or HTML, or share it with a link.
07What is a good uptime percentage?+
Most production websites aim for 99.9% ("three nines") or better, which still allows up to 8.8 hours offline per year. Online shops and SaaS teams usually target 99.95–99.99% — and monitoring is how you find out which one you're actually delivering.
08Can I monitor server uptime too?+
Yes. From the outside with ping, TCP-port and DNS checks, or from the inside with Uptimia Server Monitoring — a lightweight agent that reports CPU, memory, disk and processes, in the same dashboard.
09How do I get alerted when my website goes down?+
Wherever you already work: email, SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Mattermost, Telegram, WhatsApp, PagerDuty, Twilio, webhooks and Atlassian Statuspage — 12 channels in all. If nobody acknowledges, the escalation ladder brings in the next person, and acknowledging takes one click, with no login.
10Is there a free plan?+
Yes. The free plan monitors one website every 5 minutes — no credit card, and commercial use is welcome. The 30-day trial gives you everything else, with room for 500 uptime monitors.
